"Horse with Rider", 2025

The horse and the wolf are archetypal animals deeply rooted in our collective consciousness, embodying contrasting qualities. The horse represents affection and human connection, while the wolf symbolizes freedom, independence, and the wild. These animals serve as mirrors for our inner desires and needs. In this work, the gentle presence of the horse is harmonized with the wild energy of the female wolf rider.

Judith Wagner on her work

My artistic work focuses on figurative sculpture. Most of my sculptures are life-sized, distorted, and elongated—three-dimensional characters that are subtly or overtly off-balance. This creates a certain tension: a movement that has not yet occurred but is already perceptible. A fleeting moment that can never be fully captured. [1]

The figures physically share the space with the viewer, becoming a counterpart. They create an atmosphere, tell stories of places of longing, and give form and body to those parts within us that are not entirely tangible.

They point to our frequently felt sense of incompleteness; these gaps are closed through props or animals. They complement the figure and serve as an indication of its inner state, functioning as silent bridges to that which often remains unsaid.
